Integrated at Work (IAW) completed a complex project for Akamai’s new global headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts. IAW installed 12,000 LF of demountable walls and a full interior glass and glazing package.

Throughout the project, detailed coordination ensured the final build-out is fully consistent with the design aspirations of the project, as well as all targets for sustainability (LEED and WELL).

Integrated at Work (IAW) recently completed a high-end, customized demountable walls project with Columbia Construction for Great Hill Partners (GHP). Located on the 29th Floor of the Hancock Building, GHP is a private equity firm that embodies the core values of integrity, teamwork, accountability, attitude, meritocracy, and a desire to win.  Architect Gensler sought to incorporate these values in an interior design that distinctly reflects the GHP culture while raising the bar for industry expectations.

IAW proposed the Muraflex MIMO demountable wall system to complement Gensler’s theme of elegant and edgy.  MIMO is the most slender and sophisticated demountable glass office wall solution in the IAW portfolio. Modern and minimal, it maximizes natural light while fostering dynamic and transparent teaming.  True to its demountable nature the MIMO system is highly adaptable and can be easily reconfigured to meet the demands of Great Hill Partners’ long-term business needs. Further, as the walls are not affixed to drywall, future changes can be completed without the time and expense of outsourcing a demo crew.

Unique to this project, the IAW team elevated the capabilities of the MIMO system by customizing it for the GHP entryway.  A challenging task that drew upon years of interior glazing expertise while expanding upon knowledge of the Muraflex system and Maglocks security hardware.  We are proud to say that the results speak for themselves – what a way to make an entrance!

But don’t just take our word for it – even the elevator operator at the Hancock Building agrees that Great Hill Partners is the, “nicest floor in the building.”

This project was an interesting take on using demountable systems to create a refined, modern space that clearly represents the client.  An aggressive schedule, with a lot of changes, required major coordination efforts with other trades but we stayed one step ahead, the entire way.

Integrated at Work (IAW) provided project management, procurement, and installation services for the interior fit-out of the Reebok Headquarters, located in the Boston seaport.

The Reebok HQ spans 220,000 SF across five floors and houses more than 700 employees. Designed by Gensler, the goal was to create a more dynamic environment that would encourage collaboration and innovation utilizing an open-plan design. The new facility includes collaborative work areas, conference rooms, client showrooms, a design lab, a production studio, a retail store, and a two-story 30,000 SF gym comprised of a raised Cross-Fit floor, boxing ring, free weight and stationary equipment, and interactive classrooms for fitness, dance, yoga, and spin.

For this state-of-the-art complex, general contractor Gilbane knew they could rely on Integrated Interiors to deliver strong results. IAW installed over 2,000 LF of Haworth’s Enclose Frameless Glass (EFG) wall system.  EFG offers a simple yet sophisticated design with the lowest base profile in the industry which allows for maximum daylight to permeate throughout the space, unobstructed by frames. With the look and feel of fixed construction, EFG walls offer space-saving, easily adaptable options to create comfortable workspaces while also supporting privacy needs in an open-office environment. To further enhance the beauty and uniqueness of the space, IAW provided fully customized color-stained wood doors.

The Reebok HQ project is en route to receiving LEED certification and has won two prestigious design industry awards: (1) 2018 Workspace over 80,000 SF, IIDA New England, (2) Award of Merit Interior Design, ENR New England.

Hayden Avenue / Lexington, MA

Office, Science/Tech

Integrated at Work (IAW) has been Takeda’s exclusive provider of modular architectural solutions in Massachusetts for the past 10 years. During this time, IAW has delivered a range of innovative solutions, including 15,000 linear feet of Haworth Enclose demountable walls, above-ceiling modular power distribution, high-acoustic value wall treatments, and wireless sound masking technology.

In collaboration with our partner, Environments at Work (EAW), our team has successfully completed projects for eight buildings across two campuses.

For the project at 95 Hayden Avenue, IAW designed and installed over 15,000 linear feet of moveable walls. These walls effectively divide spaces while allowing for quick and easy reconfigurations to support Takeda’s anticipated growth. The layout includes both open and enclosed offices, meeting and conference rooms, and community areas.

Integrated at Work (IAW) was excited to be a part of the renovations team for the WCVB-TV & Chronicle newsroom. The 22,550 SF, Channel 5 headquarters located in Needham, MA, underwent extensive modifications to create a space that encourages collaboration and productivity.

According to Gorman Richardson Lewis Architects (GRLA), the designers wanted to give the news team “a vibrant, open, and inspiring space that would make them excited to come to work and help them be more productive.” IAW provided several product solutions to make that happen.  Tasked with a need for natural daylighting as well as state-of-the-art office systems and conference spaces, IAW supplied Frameless Glass Fronts with Klein Rollglass Doors. The glass wall panels maximize light and the brushed steel locking ladder pulls enhance the modern and clean design. IAW also procured and installed 15,000 SF of raised access flooring (RAF) for this project.

The RAF solution worked threefold:

  1.  Leveled out the uneven concrete slab condition of the original floor.
  2. Installed at 10” FFH, the first layer allowed for all power, data, and plumbing to be rerouted underneath the floor with easy access for facilities management.
  3. A second layer of RAF at 14” FFH was added to elevate the information main desk, accentuating the central focal point of the design layout.

A unique aspect of this project involved the addition of specialty glass tiles.  Installed along the perimeter of the floorplan, lighting was affixed underneath the tiles to shine and highlight the large “ribbons” of WCVB-TV5’s signature red that the designers interwoven throughout the space.

Integrated at Work (IAW) completed a challenging and dynamic project for the Microsoft New England Research & Development Center (NERD), located in the innovative Kendall Square district of Cambridge, MA.

Renovations centered around evolving out of an isolated 100% private office environment, into a more modern, open, and mobile space.  Keeping this in mind, IAW offered several uniquely tailored product solutions for enhancing transparency and increasing versatility.

IAW installed over 2,500 LF of the Haworth Trivati modular wall system. Trivati offers the highest levels of quality and performance and provides the ultimate in space planning freedom.

As a demountable wall system, Trivati offers a flexible long-term solution for changing environments. Its adaptable design ensures interchangeability and reuse, saving installation time and costs and eliminating unnecessary waste.  In an open office environment, sound transmission is of vital importance and Trivati delivers the best acoustical privacy in the market, earning even higher STC ratings than traditional drywall and other demountable wall systems.

IAW solutions also included an interior glass and glazing package including entryway doors, whiteboards, customized back-painted glass, and bathroom mirrors.

We are proud to announce that the Sasaki-designed Microsoft NERD Center won Best Workspace Over 80,000 square feet at the annual International Interior Design Association New England (IIDA NE) Design Awards for 2019. Congratulations to the entire Microsoft project team!
